Derrick Rose is the 2011 NBA MVP, and the Chicago Bulls had the most wins in the NBA during the regular season, at 62. They also boast the NBA Coach of the Year in Tom Thibodeau. They will also lose to the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference Finals in five games.
Why? The Chicago Bulls play great team defense, yet struggled with guarding small forward Danny Granger, who averaged 21.6 points in the opening round series for the Indiana Pacers, and with shooting guard Joe Johnson, who averaged 19.3 points for the Atlanta Hawks. Small forward LeBron James and shooting guard Dwyane Wade are more talented and are playing on the same team, and it will be impossible for the Chicago Bulls to contain both, and possibly either one.
The Chicago Bulls won all three games these teams played during the regular season, but the Chicago Bulls brought great energy game in and game out during the entire regular season, and Coach Thibodeau deserves a lot of credit for that. The NBA Playoffs, however is when teams take it to a higher level, the way the Miami Heat did against the Boston Celtics. The Chicago Bulls have shown their inability to take it a notch higher, mainly due to their talent pool, which will prevent them from defeating the elite teams in the NBA Playoffs.
If the Chicago Bulls are to have a chance in this series, not only is Derrick Rose going to have to play spectacular in every game, but Carlos Boozer will have to dominate Chris Bosh. If Boozer can score at will and rebound, and if Joakim Noah can slow down Bosh, the Chicago Bulls have a shot at winning it all.
The referees will also be key to this series. The Chicago Bulls play very physical, and a series that allows the teams to play without a lot of fouls would be to their advantage. Still, good luck keeping both LeBron James and Dwyane Wade off the free throw line.
It says here that the inability to get consistent second and third scoring options will be the downfall of the Chicago Bulls against the Miami Heat. Luol Deng will be faced with guarding, and being guarded by LeBron James, who is First Team All NBA on Offense and Defense, and other scoring options just aren't consistent enough.
The Miami Heat, led by LeBron James and Dwyane Wade, will split the first two games in Chicago, win their two games in Miami, then close the Chicago Bulls out in five. Then they will await the winner of the Western Conference Finals and attempt to bring the South Beach Big Three a championship in their first season together. Facebook
