Music Festival Hits Houghton-Le-Spring | Houghton's Latest & Greatest

Music lovers of Houghton-Le-Spring are to be treated to their very own music festival this year.

Skinny Twins festival takes place on Saturday 11th June at the Rainton Meadows Arena and promises to be a day to remember.

Headlining acts include The Stranglers, The Rifles, The Sunshine Underground and famous Newcastle indie band, Detroit Social Club.

A host of other bands will also play throughout the day until the festival closes at 11pm.

Jamie Jamieson, 12 Dirty Bullets, said: "I think it's the most refreshing new festival I have seen this year.  We can't wait to play it."

Organised by Skinny Twins Promotions, this is the festival's first year of what hopes to be an annual event.  Bus transportation is available from Park Lane interchange, Newcastle bus station and Durham bus station to make the event accessible for all.

Along with live music, a battle of the bands competition will also take place in the run up to the festival.  Talented entrants will have the chance to win £250 cash, a slot on the day of the festival, a day in a recording studio and an introduction and live recording a Spark FM.

DJ Daniel Rutter said:  "The competition is really exciting.  It gives fresh talent the opportunity to be seen and more importantly heard.  The prize is amazing too."
