    Absolutely!!

Have any microsoft products ever been seen as 'cool'?! lol

Apple has done something VERY important with the iPod. They made it cool, especially among teens thru college-aged kids. Whenever I'm in an Apple store, it's very obvious just how strongly Apple is going after this demographic and I think it's paying off.

This would be excellent; an iPhone that roam onto any network of the 16 frequency band groups.

Maybe even add RUIM functionality to the iPhone, so we can roam onto CDMA!

    Wouldn't that be grand! :p

One of my first thoughts when Verizon got an iPhone out of sync with the normal production order was the the iPhone 5 (or 4S) was going to be unlocked and Verizon wanted to capitalize on a few months of their own form of exclusivity.

I hope this means I'm right.

I'm currently sporting a Nexus One which, since its OTA update to 2.3 is a phone that has all the stability and responsiveness of Windows ME. (I have not found this to be generally true of the Android platform, but the Nexus One hasn't done the platform any favors for me personally.)

I've been eyeing the G2X (so far as I can tell it's just a rebranded LG Optimus 2X) as my next phone, but I think I'm gonna just wait and see what June - September has in store.

But I think the biggest advantage is that it would be very very simple to adjust the interface to dial phonenumbers, type text messages, and so on. In other words: the iPhone would be within handreach, and it would not require dozens of buttons added to interface (eg via a dock connector like the FM radio) I believe this was planned for 2006

Very interesting, I hadn't considered this. It would still obviously lack tactile feedback, but then again the buttons on my current phone are so tiny they're not the easiest to use either.

I mentioned this in the last thread, but I just picked up some of these leather covers for my Moleskine's and they're pretty sweet. Made by Inkleaf Leather (http://www.etsy.com/shop/InkleafLeather?ga_search_query=inkleaf+leather&ga_search_type=seller_usernames) on Etsy if anyone cares.

Really like the look of those! But I can't afford to get them now :(

Redesign that quick? But than again, a delay till September might be the reason. Who know, sure looks bad ass though.

well lets consider the long list of bad press and problems in the iPhone 4 design. For example the your holding it wrong and piss poor lay out of the antenna. Glass back breaking all the time. I think they wanted to get off that before it got really out of hand. Might as well end it while they have the chance. Also could be the hardware update was going to be well pretty limited so they make the outside chance so people jump to buy a new one. They know Apple fanboys like to show off they have the lastest and greatest so they make it impossible for them to make it look like the could at a glance (for example 3G and 3GS. Unless you saw the back you could never tell)

There is no way it could be that thin.

It could be. The curved edges give it an optical illusion to look thinner than it really is. It is a cheating trick

I hope it's not drastically thinner and lighter. The 4 at the minute is just right, nice to hold feels right.

Maybe It's just my man handling sausage fingers but I wouldn't like to see it similar to the iPod touch.

Yeah there is a limit before you become too small. At a certain point you just can not make it any thinner and lighter and still have it conformable to use.

The iPhone 4 had just the right thickness. Tapering everything to a weak point is bad engineering.

And when has Apple followed good engineering design. They rather look pretty than listen to their engineers and tell them to deal with it. I believe their are multiple reports of Apple own engineers speaking out saying they told them that the design of the iPhone 4 Antenna was bad idea but instead they were told to deal with it and do it. Nothing the engineers could do about it. Apple choose to make their phones look pretty instead of function. Apple is a Form over function company.

Looks top-heavy and tough to hold. Not going to happen.

Top heavy is not really a big issue with something that small and light.

I wonder if anyone has been waiting on getting a iPhone 4 because white hasn't been released yet. Well 10 months later here you go.

To answer your question: I have waited for the White iPhone 4, hoping that with the White iP4 release the antenna death grip issue would have been solved. I really hope I am right! Moreover, since adding a plastic protection cover to the Black iP4 solves the issue, probably the new White out-layer has been designed to improve the antenna (i really hope it's the case!)

At 10:30 this morning Bristol had a few white Verizon pads and a few black 16GB WiFi pads. Neither was what I was looking for. I went to MV, Spectrum, Fashion Isalnd, called Brea and Cerritos - all sold out. I am going back to Bristol for opening time tomorrow.

I want to own the strip club.

And didn't you see how upset and disoriented I was by your death? I lost all track of time.

The would be the best narrative EVER.
MRVille is brothel, and 2 girls have stds.
The seer is a health department screener.
The hunter is a condom distributor.
It might have to go to the PRSI, though.

Apple fans will be interested to see that companies are starting to finally introduce Thunderbolt-compatible devices into the market.

Yeah they're FINALLY introducing products. These peripheral companies have apparently been sitting on their hands doing nothing since this brand-new technology was released 6 weeks ago. I mean how hard is it to procure this new part, redesign the insides of your equipment, recreate your cases to accommodate a new port, and submit it to a battery of tests?

Yeah, it's all about one guy who was leader of the bad men. And none of the bad men could think for themselves, and now he's gone, they won't know what to do - and we'll all be happy and safe.
    Sleep well!

I don't think anyone believes that this will be the end of terrorism. Just like America wouldn't collapse if our President was assassinated. But it would still be a pretty big deal right?

Dunno if this was posted, but Safari lets you resize text boxes within pages:

    http://img502.imageshack.us/img502/8060/picture28by6.th.png (http://img502.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture28by6.png)
    http://img272.imageshack.us/img272/6174/picture29ps1.th.png (http://img272.imageshack.us/my.php?image=picture29ps1.png)

Would be better if it worked like OmniWeb and allowed you to open a resizable floating window for the text.

I just updated mine and there is a noticeable difference in speed with this update. It is much faster in opening applications and text messages.

as is usually the case after a reboot.

To be honest, I've had more application crashes and restarts on OSX than I have under XP/Windows in the past 3 years. So much for "crash resistant" - and yes, I've had 4 kernel panics since I got this iMac home; that's more than the number of BSODs I've had under XP in 4 years.

Which means -- as everyone is saying -- that there is something wrong with your computer. I have a MacBook, two Intel iMacs, and a Mac Pro in my house, and they do not crash despite heavy daily use. My poor Mac Pro is running three different operating systems right now using Parallels, with nary a complaint. If you are getting unexplained kernel panics on a clean install of Mac OS X, then you have a hardware problem.

Hardware problems can affect any OS -- I've seen Windows systems that get daily BSODs. It's not because "Windows sucks", it's because there was a sub-par memory chip or somesuch in the system. Likewise Mac OS X crashes, when nobody else is experiencing a problem, are not an indication of the stability of the OS but rather of your hardware.

You're quoting me back to me when all of us (including me) were talking about that other guy that is having hardware problems because his Parallels "sucks." Parallels kicks ass on my C2D 20" iMac - hence the reason I piped up to be the first to say something is wrong with the other guy's machine if he can't get it working right.

On mine, which is stock hardware except for the 2GB of RAM I have in it, Parallels starts up in 4 seconds, boots my XP VM in 9-10, shuts down in 3-4, restarts the same VM in under 5 seconds (have yet to figure that one out, probably because of caching someplace; I don't even see the XP splash screen when it reboots/restarts because it's so fast), suspends in 22-25 seconds, resumes in 30-34, and I have no issues with any hardware at all in my XP VM. I even burn CDs and DVDs from the XP VM over FireWire/USB without hassles (Plextor FireWire/USB external).

So, on a similarly configured piece of hardware, if he's having suspend/resume times that seem to be 4-6x longer than others then, as you said, there is something wrong with the hardware. If none of the rest of us are having said issues, your line of logic would follow and apply to his machine since he's the only one reporting such ridiculously long suspend/resume times among other things.

Parallels works for me. Since I can't post specific benchmark data for Parallels and that other new-on-the-scene virtualization software for Macs <hint, hint> I'll just say this:

I completed the testing I said I was going to do, and Parallels simply lays the smackdown across that other software. And yes I'm well aware that other software is in beta - or pre-beta late alpha as one person put it - and that's fine. But I paid for Parallels, and to use that most famous line about Macs:

    It just works.

Oh yeah, it beats that other software even with multi-core CPU support enabled. Go figure.

    bb

Parallels sucks but until now its been the only REAL game in town.

Ah... the clarion call of lamers. Might as well bash Windows since it's so pervasive while you're at it. And it's still no excuse for stealing the software and breaking the faith. Bleh...
