sponge things… « i dream i hold you in my arms

so, it's monday morn, still kind of early, teen is on toilet, begins conversation about our mini outdoor pool and you know those "sponge things" you use… what the heck is she talking about, i wonder, then, it dawns… are you talking about tampons? yes and i want to use them… of course, she wants to be able to go swimming later this day… have any of your girlfriends been talking about tampons, do they use them? yes and i want to too, i'll be brave… ah, my darling girl, i'm not ready this second to deal w/this, can i help you later this afternoon? no! (crying) i want to use a tampon so … i can be just like my girlfriends… oh, my girl, i love you so much… you keep everything so real and so relevant…
