Wissahickon Restoration Volunteers « mpdhjf0852

By Jenna Feder

On Saturday April 9th I volunteered with WRV at their Northwestern Avenue suite. We met at 9:45 and walked to Forbidden Drive to the work site. We spent 3 hours removing invasive species, not unlike the work I did with the Wissahickon Valley Watershed. We were supplied with gloves, shovels, pick axes, and other small tools. They said we would mostly be removing goutweed and controlling norway maple seedlings (because full grown norway maples are too difficult to control/get rid of).

This work was a little harder than the work with the Wissahickon Valley Watershed because it was a little more tedious. They were more focused on getting rid of the whole invasive species completely, or as much as possible, instead of just getting rid of one branch sticking up out of the ground.
